Box 707 <br /> Concord~ NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br /> Dear Charles: <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation vlth <br /> the Cabarrus County Engineer office has formally advertised the proposed tennis <br /> courts complex at Frank Liske Park on April 6, 1987. Seventeen construction <br /> companies were sent invitations to bid on this project. The opening of the <br /> bids were conducted on Wednesday, April 29, 1987 at 10:00 A.H. in the <br /> Co~nissioners Room. Hr. Walter Odell~ Cabarrus County Engineer provided the <br /> professional engineering services and Hr. Richard Hills of Charlotte designed <br /> the electrical system and specifications for this project. This construction <br /> bid consists of six (6) asphalt composition with acrylic surface tennis eourts~ <br /> ten foot fencing~ drinking fountains~ rater lines~ yard hydrants~ a parking <br /> lot for 32 cars~ and roadway. Enclosed is a copy of the legal advertisement <br /> that was published April 6~ and also enclosed is a bid sur~ary of the April <br /> 29, bid opening. <br /> <br /> The low bidder for this project is Wingate:Paving Company at $156,973.00. <br /> The current Frank Liske Park*s Capital Outlay Budget for this project is <br /> $100~327.00. The Parks and Recreation Department vould like to request of <br /> the Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners to fund additional appropriation <br /> of $10~669.00 toward this project. With modifications in the specifications <br /> and project unit deletions the following change orders would be necessary <br /> to alloy Cabarrns County to operate within the budget amount and the additional <br /> $10,659.00 special appropriation. <br /> <br /> The following is a short summary of these change orders: <br /> <br /> Change Order ~1 Unit Item 3 (Eliminate $13,305.00) ~ater Hains~ Valve Fittin~s~ <br /> Hydrantst Fountainst etc. This project viii be installed <br /> at a later date; therefore, Water Coolers will be provided <br /> for these areas. <br /> <br /> Change Order ~2 Unit Item & (Eliminate $22~886.00) Electrical <br /> This item can be provided with in house construction and changes <br /> in specifications for approximately $8,500.00 <br /> <br /> <br />
