Cook. -Ir. <br /> Director <br /> <br /> t'lay 21, 19117 <br /> <br /> M£RORARDb~! <br /> <br /> TO: Charles HcGtnnls, County ffanager /~-~.~_~ <br /> FROH: Jim Cook, Social Services Director~)/(/-''~~ <br /> SUBJ£CT: Older Americans Act Title III Funds for I987-88. <br /> <br />I am writing to request that the Board of Commissioners, at its first <br />June meeting, approve the Department's proposal for Older Americans ^ct <br />Title III funding for 1987-88. <br /> <br />The Office of Aging Services, a division of this Department has utilized <br />this funding for 13 years in providing a variety of services to the <br />senior citizens of Cabarrus County. In recent years, ~e have provided <br />ccngregate meals, transportation and chore services. <br /> <br />For 1987-88, the Department will be granted a total of $238,736 in Title <br />III funding for 46,030 units of transportation services, 57,700 units of <br />congregate nutrition services, 6400 units of chore services and ~00 <br />units of health screening services, a service to be provided for the <br />first time in 1987-88 under Title III funding. <br /> <br />Our plan for implementing the ne~ Health Screening program calls for <br />four health fairs to be conducted throughout the County. <br /> <br />During the current year, we have had $196,886 in Title III funding for <br />42,915 units of transportation services, 55,000 units of congregate <br />nutrition services and 5,125 units of chore services. <br /> <br />The required 13 percent local matching share of costs (inclnded in our <br />1987-88 county budget proposal) is $31,113. <br /> <br />Please advise me if I may provide additional information. <br /> <br /> <br />
