'Commissioner Upright, member of the City Council of the City of <br /> Kannapolls, introduced tile following Resolution adopted by the City Council <br /> at a special meeting on December 11, 1984. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WUEREAS, the community of Kannapolis became an incorporated city <br /> on the llth day of December, 1984; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, services to the Cabarrus County portion of Kannapolis, <br /> including but not limited to police protection, health services, <br /> animal warden services, and planning and zoning services, have been <br /> provided by the County of Cabarrus; and <br /> <br /> I~tEREAS, the City of Kannapolis will not |lave revenues with which <br /> to pay for services prior to mid-April, 1985, and will most likely be <br /> unable to assume responsibility for services heretofore provided by <br /> Cabarrus County until at least. July 1, 1985; and <br /> <br /> I~]ER'EAS, the City Council of Kannapolis, North Carolina, desires <br /> to request the Board of County Commissioners for Cabarrus County, North <br /> Carolina, that the county continue to provide services in the Cabarrus <br /> County portion of Kannapolis until the city is able to assume -' <br /> responsibility for sucll services; <br /> <br /> NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Kannapolis, <br /> North Carolina: <br /> <br /> 1. That it respectfully requests the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, that the county continue to provide <br /> to tile Cabarrus County portion of Kannapolis those services which it has <br /> heretofore provided in this area until the city is able to assume the <br /> responsibility for such services. <br /> <br /> ~PON SUBSTITUTE MOTION of Commissioner'llamby, seconded by Commissioner <br />Payne and 'unanimously carried, the Board agreed for the County to continue <br />to provide services requested by Kannapolis until June 30, 1985, provided <br />that if the County revenues are reduced significantly by reason of tile <br />fact that Kannapslis has become incorporated, tile Board will reconsider <br />the provision of services at that time. <br /> <br />Approved by the Board of Commissioners on December 17~ 1984. <br /> <br /> q <br /> <br /> <br />
