Pilkington <br />SUBJECT: Personal Care Services <br /> <br />Proposal: To provide Personal Care Services as part of the services offered <br /> hy the Cabarrus County Home Health Agency. <br /> <br />Background: Personal Care Services will become a Covered service under the <br /> North Carolina Medicaid Program effective January 1, 1986. <br /> Personal Care Services are defined as those tasks that are provided <br /> to assist patients with medical needs in such activities as <br /> personal hygiene, ambulation, meal preparations and medical <br /> monitoring as wall as housekeepin§ and home management tasks that <br /> are incidental to the patient,s health care needs. <br /> <br />Budget: Expenses <br /> Personnel: Contracted Personnel Care Aides $10,800.00 <br /> I PHN I1 (Estimate 30%) 3,285.00 <br /> <br /> Fringes; Contracted Personnel (Workman's Comp) 225.00 <br /> PHN lI (FICA, insurance, etc.) 500.00 <br /> <br /> Travel: ! PHN x 240 miles/mo, x .205 x 6 mos. 295.00 <br /> Telephone: 1 extension @ $.80/mo. x 6 mos. 4.80 <br /> Postage: 100 letters x $.22 22.00 <br /> Printing & Binding: Forms 200.00 <br /> Office Supplies: Materials for support of personnel 200.00 <br /> Total Expenses $15,581.~0 <br /> <br /> $7.00/hr. for 80 hrs./mo. = $560.00 x 5 patients = <br /> $2,800.00/mo. x 6 mos. $16,800.00 <br /> <br /> Total Revenues $16,800.00 <br /> <br />Rationale: This program would be operated like our other Home Health programs <br /> in that it would require no local appropriation of funds and will <br /> probably generate revenue in excess of expenses. It is a needed <br /> service and should be provided to those patients eligible for <br /> Medicaid coverage. <br /> <br /> <br />
