I: ?o provide during a 12 month period, shelter care facilitiee for 20 to <br /> 30 children (depending on length of stay) to meet i~ediate separation <br /> from their families. The shelter care facility will serve as an <br /> alternative to and diversion from present or future involvement in the <br /> criminal Justice system and/or detention. The ultimate goal will be to <br /> reduce the incidents of Juvenile crfiae in the community. <br /> <br />STATEHENT OF HEASURABLE OBJECTIVES: <br /> 1. Provide an emergency residence for 75 percent of all children <br /> determined by service workers to need such care (5 children will <br /> be cared for at one time and 20 to 30 will be cared for on an <br /> annual basis). <br /> 2. For 60 per cent of all children who enter the program, prepare <br /> for long-term placement within 90 days of the entry date <br /> (preparation is defined as stabilization of the chlldfe behavior <br /> to a point where he ia ready for placement and development of a <br /> long-term care plan - preferably in the chlldfs o~nl home). <br /> 3. Of the children involved in this program 50 per cent viii achieve <br /> successful adjustment for six months following long-term place- <br /> ment.
