Box 707
Concord, NC 28025

Attention: Mr. Charles McGinnis
County Manager

Dear Mr. McGinnis:

We were very disappointed to receive your letter of July 23rd advising
us that the County Commissioners decision not to accept our bid for
Sheriff's Department uniforms because of the exorbitant price increase
per item over last year's bid. The price increase is not that exorbi-
tant when you take into consideration that prices have not been in-
creased for two years. The bid awarded in 1985 had the same prices
as that ordered in 1984. Please consider also, the difference between
our retail price and the bid price as listed below.

RETAIL PRICE BID PRICE
TROUSERS $34.50 $27.00
LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS 26.50 22.00
SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS 24.85 20.00
HAT COVERS 9.50 6.50
RAINCOATS 65.00 58.00
TUFFY TOPPER 121.50 90.00
RECRUIT JACKETS 51.50 44.00

Even though Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department has been purchasing
the same amount of uniforms from year to year the Kannapolis Police
uniforms are no longer bid with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Depart-
ment uniforms. The Kannapolis Police uniforms represented a large
part of the contract and this was taken into consideration when pre-
paring our proposal. -

(~ EX('I.U.%IVK I)I.'41'I,~IliUTOI.t'4 Tilt, ,\'fuiowlS I,'(~d~w~tl Uui. form Dc'alcr
