CABARRUS COUNTY
Post Office Box 707

/~ Concord, North Carohna 28026-0707
MEMO

TO: Cabarrus County Board of Co~nissioners
FROM: Charles D. McGinnis
DATE: October 29, 1986
RE: Law Enforcement Special Retirement Allowance

Cabarrus County adopted a uniform job classification, salary,
fringe benefits, and personnel ordinance in August, lg77. Prior to the
adoption of this uniform personnel ordinance, various employees in
differing depart~ents were treated quite differently as far as pay, job
classifications, holidays, vacations, sick leave, and retirement
benefits attributed to these employees. At that time the comissioners'
intent was to see to it that all employees of Cabarrus County were
treated uniformly and consistently in the administration of the
conditions of employment with Cabarrus County.

Succeeding comissioner membership on the Board has applied this
same concept as it relates to personnel employed by the County, and a
continuing effort has been made to see to it that all personnel policies
and practices re~in uniform and consistent.

I would reco~end that in keeping with previous policies of
Cabarrus County that the special law officer's retirement allowance .
schedule be extended under County policy to include all Cabarrus County
employees.
