An~al Contro~ Advisory Co==ittee <br /> <br /> Hinutes <br /> <br /> January 15, 1985 <br /> <br /> Present: Willia~ Hamby, Jr., Dr. Robert Fulghum, Gary Steeley, Betsy Carpenter, <br /> Doreen Devote, and Fred Pilkington <br /> <br /> Hr. Gary Steeley, Chief Animal Control Officer, reviewed the monthly report for <br /> December and the yearly report for 1984. }~. Steeley proposed an identification <br /> system for pets at a cost of $1.00 per animal. Hr. Steeley also proposed an <br /> Ident-a-band animal identification system at a cost of $124.56 for a 400 foot <br /> roll (one foot per animal) and discussed the possibility of using a tatoo system <br /> on adopted pets at a cost $200.00 for the system. The committee will look at <br /> these proposals and reach a decision during its February meeting. The rabies <br /> control activity report for the third quarter of 1984 was reviewed and discussed. <br /> <br />Hr. Steeley also discussed the problem of hunting dogs running at large. The <br />wardens will enforce the law with respect to hunting dogs. <br /> <br />}~. Steeley also reported that next year*s budget will include a request for three <br />(3) walkie talkies. <br /> <br />The committee also discussed the use of mace on violent animals and in some cases <br />on violent persons. No decision was made at this time. <br /> <br />Betsy Carpenter brought up the rabies clinics and Dr. Fulghum noted that Hatch 30 <br />will be the next rabies clinics. The next clinics will be April 1-5. F~£. <br />Carpenter also talked about Meart for Animals on February 11-14 at ~he Carolina <br />Hall. She encouraged support from the Animal control Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />The next meeting will be on February 19 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the budget.
