Cannon Charitable Trusts No. One and Two have awarded your institution grants in the past, we wish to advise you that the next meeting of these trusts, for consideration of grants will be held in mid February lg85. Proposals for grants should be submitted to the undersigned by January 31. We wish to remind you that the proposal should (1) be in writing; (2) be signed by an authorized official of the requesting organization; (3) explain briefly the specific religious, charitable or educational purpose for which a grant is requested and how the funds would be used to accomplish that purpose; (4) include a simple budget of the project, including a breakdown of how the funds requested are proposed to be spent and over what period of time; (5) state what other sources of funding for the project are available or are being sought; and (6) dis- close the nature of your status as a tax-exempt charitable organization. Should a grant be made, the grantee will be required to furnish a report and accounting as to how the funds were spent. The making of grants is in the sole discretion of the trustees, subject to the limitations in the trust instrument, and there is no assurance that any particular request will be granted; many worthwhile needs can- not be met because of the limited funds available for distribution each year.
