Little, Director, <br /> Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Dept. <br /> <br /> Meeting in a regular session on January 22, 1985, the Cabarrus-Rowan <br /> Commission voted unanimously to recommend to the Cabarrus Board of County <br />· Commissioners the enclosed National Park Service L.W.C.F. Grant application. <br /> <br /> The proposed project grant application totals at $110,OOO.O0 with <br /> (1)$50,000.00 matching from LWCF Federal Assistance Program, (2}$21,000.00 <br /> match from Rowan County; and (3)$39,000.0D match from Cabarrus County. <br /> The Cabarrus and Rowan Board of County Commissioners will cost share on <br /> this appropriation on a percentage basis. Cabarrus County will provide <br /> 65~ of this amount and Rowan County will provide 35%. The funds will be <br /> regulated by the Cabarrus-Rowan Park Con~nission. <br /> <br /> The proposed project grant application provides for lighted tennis courts, <br /> trail development, additional family picnic sites, paving of roadway and <br /> parking lot, playground apparatus, security system for building, and sup- <br /> porting facilities such as electrical lighting system and landscaping. <br /> <br /> The proposed project will provide basic opportunities for active and <br /> passive recreation to all the residents of Northern Cabarrus and Southern <br /> Rowan Counties. This park will provide opportunities for picnicking, <br /> nature interpretation, family outings, sport league play, and tennis play. <br /> The proposed project will be designed to benefit all ages and will serve <br /> the physically and mentally handicapped as well. <br /> <br /> Please forward this grant recommendation to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners at their regular meeting in February for their consideration. <br /> <br /> -7 <br /> <br /> <br />
