The request specified a
machine which accomodates roll film and microfiches, has an automatic
retriva] device and produces copies on plain bond paper.

Bids ~ere opened May 10, 1985. A sunr~ary of bids received is
attached.

I have evaluated specifications, contacted vendor references and
had demonstrations of the three machines offered.

I am recommending that the bid be awarded to XEC for the Cannon
580 with ¥isco Controller.

This is the low bid. The machine will meet all of our needs. The
one exception to specifications (no manual paper feed) is insignificant.
Additionally, this machine is considered to present the best overall
combination of versatility, convenience of operation and ease of main-

I should note that we have been careful to assure that microfilm
equipment we secure will be compatible with other equipment the county
may purchase in the future.

Please advise me if I nay provide additional information.

Thank you..
