Martin has signed a proclamation (copy enclosed)
designating the week of September 29-October 5, 1985 as Emergency
Medical Services Week in North Carolina. This designation will
serve to enhance public awareness of emergency medical services and
will afford EMS providers a special time to encourage the public to
learn more about the EMS resources in their local community--
resources that can help save a life.

The largest portion of public education must take place at the local
level. Enclosed is a list of activities that have taken place
during previous EMS Weeks that may be helpful to your organization
in planning an event.

Stephen A. Acai, Jr., Assistant Chief-Transportation and Public
Education, will be coordinating activities for this observance and
you should feel free to contact Steve at 919/733-2285 for
assistance.
