I

State of North Carolina
Depaxtment of Nat-ur/il Resources and Community Development
512 No~h Salistm~, Sheet · Raleigh, North Carolina 27611

James G. Martin, Governor $. Thomas Rhodes, Secretary

October 22, 1985

Mr. Charles D. McGinnis
County Manager
Courthouse, Box 707
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear Mr. McGinnis:

I am pleased to announce that Caharrus County has been
awarded $16,000 in matching funds under the North Carolina
Land Records Management Program. Your application
requesting funds defined a program of land records
improvements that will benefit the county's operation and
your taxpayers.

with the 49 counties requesting grants amounting to
almost $5 million against only $659,000 in available appro-
priations, it was necessary to scale-down the requests
according to an impartial and equitable formula. The
figures for the recommended grant awards were obtained by
prorating the $659,000 among all applicants according to
their documented ellgibillty for funding over the next
fiscal year only. In addition, the amounts thus obtained
were modified by the imposition of a "ceiling" of $16,000
per county and a "floor" of $1,000 er 50% of the requested
grant, whichever was less.

Copies of the LRMP Grant Agreement covering your grant
award will be mailed to you for execution within the next
few weeks. If for some reason a decision has been made by
you not to accept the above award, please let us know in
writing by November 1, 1985.

Equal
