Box 707 <br /> Concord, NC 28025 <br /> <br /> Dear Charles: <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus Board of Commissioners currently have an appropriation of <br /> $100,000 in the County's Revenue Sharing Budget earmarked for development <br /> at Frank Liske Park. $50,000 of this appropriation was anticipated from a <br /> Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant which was submitted this past summer. <br /> As a result of limited funds available in the State of North Carolina, this <br /> Grant was denied by the Department of Natural Resources and Community Develop- <br /> ment, the administrator of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Program in the <br /> State of North Carolina. Moreover, because of an additional limited amount of <br /> funds available this current federal fiscal year, it is also extremely doubtful <br /> that this Grant would be funded in this current cycle. <br /> <br /> Therefore, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission <br /> would like to propose to the Board of Commissioners that the Grant be withdrawn <br /> from consideration and the funds be spent on the installation of a miniature <br /> golf course at a cost of $25,000, and the balance of the moneY be expended <br /> toward the insulation, heating and cooling of the upstairs level of the Frank <br /> Liske Barn. <br /> <br /> Please present this recommendation to the Board of Commissioners at their <br /> February 6 meeting.
