CABARRUS COUNTY
Post OffiCe Box 707
CONCORD. NORTH CAROLINA 28025

MEMORANDUM

TO: Charles D. McGinnis/County Manager'~q~-
FROM: Thomas B. Robinson/Director of Planning
SUBJECT: Resolution to add to state secondary road system Colony Drive
DATE: April 25, 1984

On March 24, 1984, our office received from Mr. l.k. Patterson, Oistrict
Engineer with the Department of Transportation in Albemarle, an investigation
report wanting the county to 9ire a resolution to add Colony Drive and Windy
Rush Road located in Old Colony Subdivision, to the state secondary road system.

After checking the master road list for the county, ghe staff noticed that
there was a similarity between Windy Rush Road and two other roads in the county.
Windy Avenue, SW located off of Union Street, South in Concord, and Windy Road
located off of Mooresville Road.

The staff and I feel it would be best if Windy Rush Road was changed prior
to being added to the state system, to eliminate this similarity. Therefore,
the Planninq Departmeot recommends that drily Colony Drive be added to the state
system at this time.

Mr. Gene Holbrook, developer of the Old Colony Subdivision has been notified
as to the similarity between the roads mentioned previously and the policy adopted
by the Commissioners March of 1979, to eliminate duplicate and deceptively
similar road names.
