MEMO

TO: Board of Commissioners

FROM: William F. Pilkington, Health Director
Gary P. Steeley, Animal Control Warden

SUBJECT: Recommendations from Board of Health

In official session on April 26, 1984, the Board of Health voted
to recommend the following changes in fees at the Animal Shelter
to the County Commissioners for consideration.

Changes in fees at Animal Shelter:

Puppies under four (4) months and cats all ages . . . $7.00

Dogs over four' (4) months .............. $15.00

This would do away with the $1.00 a day for hoarding and
have this as a set fee.

It is recommended that all puppies be dewormed as they come into
the Shelter. It is also recommended that all dogs and cats be
dewormed as they are adopted.

Deworming will reduce the spread of diseases and parasites throughout
the Shelter. When the dogs are adopted, this will also reduce
spreading of diseases in the community as well. This will also be an
incentive to adopt a dog. NO rabies shots will be given to any dog or
cat. This will have to he done by a licensed veterinarian.

ft
