Troy Ray Cook , appointed by the County Commissioners, <br /> .&~-~/has not serve~ two consecutive terms, ~/is not presently a <br /> County CommiSsioner. <br /> <br /> Please re-cheCk whether the member is a County Commissioner. <br /> Information on previous terms served and whether the board member <br /> is a County Commissioner is provided because G,S. 108A-4, Term of <br /> appointment, states: <br /> <br /> "Each member of a county board of social services shall <br /> serve for a term of three years. No member may serve more <br /> than two consecutive terms. Notwithstanding the previous <br /> sentence, the limitation on consecutive terms does not <br /> apply if the member of the social services board was a <br /> member of the board of county commissioners at any time <br /> during the first two consecutive terms, and is a member <br /> of the board of county commissioners at the time of <br /> reappointment." <br /> <br /> In summary, if a social services board member has served two <br />consecutive terms and is a county commissioner on June 30, 1984, <br />that person may again be appointed. <br /> <br /> Nominations to be considered by the State Social Services <br />Commission must be received by this office no later th~n ~RC~ 30, <br />1984~ to meet the provisions of The Open Meetings Law which requires <br />nominations be announced in a public meeting before appointments are <br />made. Nominations will most probably be announced at a teleconference <br />meeting of the Commission in April, and aPpointments will be made at <br />the regular meeting of the Commission during the second quarter <br />(April - June). <br /> <br /> <br />
