PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, individual and organized forms of recreation and the <br />creative use of free time have gained growing importance in the lives <br />of all Americans as they find more and more time freed for personal <br />pursuits, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recreation encompasses myriad activities that result <br />in satisfaction and family unity; and <br /> <br /> ICHEREAS, recreation is not confined to the young and those with <br />great physical prowess, but can be pursued by persons of all ages in <br />programs of arts and crafts, tourism, cultural endeavors and nature <br />studies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the "Life. Be in it." program and "Superday 84", unlike <br />others of their genre, promote a zestful approach to life in general <br />through the encouragement of a broad range of inexpensive recreational <br />activities that do not demand special instructions or special equipment; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the "Life. Be In It." program and "Superday 84", in their <br />most far-reaching benefits, can help combat the problems of juvenile <br />delinquency, disabling old age and general depression by subtly highlighting <br />new avenues of interest to every individual in the community; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, <br />do hereby proclaim the day of June 23, 1984, as: <br /> <br /> "SUPERDAY 84" <br /> <br />in and urge all citizens <br />to relish the wonders of nature around them. <br /> <br /> <br />
