Any count)' commissioner who is appointed to the com- <br />mittee shall be deemed to be serving on the committee in an ex officio capacity. <br />Members of the committee shall serve without compensation, but may be <br />reimbursed for the amount of actual expenses incurred by them in the per- <br />formance of their duties. The names of the committee members and the dat': <br />of expiration of their te~s shall be filed with the Division of Aging which <br />shall supply a copy to the Division of Facility ~ices. ~ ' <br /> (~) The Division of Aging, Dep~ment of Human ~sources, shall develop <br />training materials which shall be distributed ~ each committee mem~r and <br />nursing home. Each committee member must receive training as sp~ified by <br />the Division of Aging prior ~ exercising any ~wer under subs~tion (h) of th~s <br />section. The Division of Aging, Department of Human Resources, shall provide <br />the committees with info~ation, ~idelines, training, and consultation ~ <br />direct them in the perfo~ance of their duties. <br /> (h) (1) Each committee shall apprise i~elfofthe general ~nditions under <br /> which the persons are residing in the homes, and shall work for the <br /> best interes~ of the ~rsons in the homes. This may include assisting <br /> persons who have ~ievances with the home and facilitating the res- <br /> olution of ~ievances at the local level. <br /> (2~ Each commit~e shall quarterly visit the nursing home it se~es. For <br /> each official qua~rly visit, a majority of the commit~ mem~rs <br /> shall ~ present. In addition, each commit~ may visit the nu~ing <br /> homo it ~rves whenever it d~ms it nece~a~, ~ ca~ out i~ duties. <br /> In counties with four or more nursing homes, the su~ommittee <br /> assi~ed ~ a home shall perfm'm the duties of the ~mmit~e under <br /> this subdivision, and a majority of the su~ommit~e mem~ must <br /> ~ present for any visit. <br /> (3} Each member of a committee shall have the right between 10:00 A.M. <br /> and 8:00 P.M. to enter into the facility the commit~e se~es in order <br /> ~ carry out the members' res~nsibilities. In a ~unty whe~ <br /> sub~mmittees have ~en established, this right of acce~ shall ~ <br /> limi~d to homes se~ed by those subcommit~es to which the mem~r <br /> has ~en ap~in~d. <br /> (4) ~e commit~e or subcommit~e may communica~ through i~ chair <br /> with the Department or any other agency in relation ~ the inte~st <br /> of any patient.
