M E M 0 <br /> <br /> TO: Charles McGinnis <br /> <br /> FROM: William Fi Pilkington <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: Cost Savings of County Cars <br /> <br /> During the period October-July, 1984, the health department had <br /> three county cars which required maintenance and fuel expenses <br /> of $3,096. During this same period these cars traveled 25,500 <br /> miles which at 21¢ a mile would have cost the county $5,355 in <br /> mileage reimbursement. In ten months, the savings of having <br /> three cars was $2,259. <br /> <br />For the period May-July, 1984, the county had four additional cars <br />which incurred $t,679 in expenses while traveling 5,400 miles~ At <br />21¢ a mile the county would have spent $1,134 in travel reimbursement <br />for the persons using those four cars. In three months these cars <br />cost the county an additional $545. <br /> <br />Overall, for the period October-July (vehicle maintenance reports <br />are not yet available for months following July) the county spent <br />$4,779 to maintain seven cars at the health department. These seven <br />cars traveled 30,900 miles which would have cost the county $6,489 <br />in mileage reimbursement.
