NcGinnis, County blanager <br /> FROM: Donna Plyler, Aging Coordinator <br /> Date: January 1983 <br /> <br /> Schedule for the month of January <br /> <br /> · Trips to the Monroe Ellen Fitzerald Senior Center on 1-10-83 <br /> and tile Forest City Senior Center on 1-13-83 were organized <br /> for the Senior Center building Committee of Kannapolis. Guidance <br /> to and from the Center, as well as an information packet was <br /> provided. <br /> <br />~Budgets, Operat%ons, Funding Sources and Program Designs were <br />completed and provided on the Rockhill Senior Center and the <br />Monroe Senior Center, at the request of Mr. Joe Ridenhour, <br />on behalf of the Kannapolis Senior Center. <br /> <br />· The Aging Coordinator is the County representative at each <br />AARP(Association of American Retired Persons) meeting monthly, <br />1-18-83. <br /> <br />-A program was provided to Seniors at Forest Hills Methodist <br /> Church on 1-12. The topic was "Programs avaible to Senior <br /> Citizens in Cabarrus County". _ <br /> <br />· Senior Bowling leagues are being organized in Concord and Kannapolis. <br />Kannapolis teams will begin 2~-7, Concord teams will begin 2-8. <br /> This activity has been a request Of Senior Citizens. The Senior <br /> Services Program will sponsor the teams. <br /> <br />· We are in the begining stages of organizing a dFriendly Neighbor <br />Program". This program helps shut-ins and aids the rest-homes <br />and nursing-homes. This program operates through volunteers- <br />Senior Citizens, for citizens countywide. <br /> <br />· Through the Division on Aging and the Council on Governments we <br />have been seeking information on funding for Senior Centers. <br />That information at this time is not complete. <br /> <br /> 2,000 Newsletters were mailed and distributed to Senior Citizens <br /> throughout the County. The number of SunSet Outlook issues mailed will <br />~ increase as we add addresses.
