BOARD OF COUNTY COb~!iSSIONERS ?=MD COUNTY STAFF <br /> PROCEDURES FOR BOARD .~ND CO~'~-IISSION APPO!NT~.~NTS <br /> <br />(1) County Manager's Office will maintain the comprehensive list of all boards <br /> and commissions updated for current members, terms, purpose, and geographic <br /> location of members. <br /> <br />(2) Appointments and reappointment of board and commission members will be <br /> coordinated by the County Manager and department director, having direct <br /> contact with or responsibility for a particular board or commission. <br /> <br />(3) The County Manager's Office will maintain a list of all requests for board <br /> and commission appointments as received from all sources. <br /> <br />(4) The first regular Board of County Commissioners agenda for each month/ <br /> quarter will contain a notice of those board and commission appoint~nents <br /> which will be considered the following month/quarter. <br /> <br />(5) Sixty days prior to expiration of terms, the County Manager's Office will <br /> notify the department head who has a direct tie with a particular board <br /> or co~m~ission of pending term expirations and of resignations. <br /> <br />(6) The County Manager will have the responsibility of determining whether'an <br /> individual meets approved eligibility criteria for reappointment and <br /> obtaining in writing, at least thirty days before the date which the appoint- <br /> ments will be on the Board of County Commissioners agenda, an indication as <br /> to whether reappoietment is sought. The responsibility of staff is admini- <br /> strative rather than advisory or political. <br /> <br />(7) The County Manager will then place these matters on the agenda with the <br /> following back-up material: <br /> <br /> Name of board or commission with present members. <br /> b. Those positions being considered at that time. <br /> c. A list of potential appointees from all of the various sources with <br /> biographical sketches, to include age, sex, race, home address, <br /> educational and employment background, professional and community <br /> memberships, and other qualifying factors. <br /> d.' Attendance records where appropriate. <br /> e. Geographic distribution of present members and applicants to be <br /> sho,~ on a County map. <br /> <br /> <br />
