October 5, 1983 P~neg82~121 Mr. Harold Nash, Chairman Cabarrus County Commissioners 302 North Ridge Street Kannapolis, North Carolina 28081 Dear Mr. Nash: After ten years of effective service to Cabarrus County citizens, Stanly Technical College is in the process of re-locating its Cabarrus branch. This new location, 431 North Church Street, Concord, will more effectively centralize our operations to serve the citizens of Cabarrus County. Stanly Tech is a College "on the go" and did achieve in this fiscal year a twenty-five (25%) percent growth in budget alloqations over last year. The average growth in the Community College System is about five (5%) percent, This enrollment growth provides dollars to strengthen our program in Cabarrus County. It also signifies that the leadership of this College is always striving to serve Cabarrus County citizens with educational services that are needed for our technological age. As you are aware, Stanly Technical College does continue to serve Cabarrus industry, firemen, law enforcement, and other groups, These groups constitute a major service area for our institution. Since we are involved in identifying the training needs of these groups, we are requesting that you appoint a county commissioner to serve on our Cabarrus County Advisory Council, This commissioner could assist us in the identification of training needs and keep the commissioners informed about our training programs. We believe that this appointment would be a valuable asset to our advisory committee and to the achievement of total education for Cabarrus County citizens. As we continue to provide effective and efficient educational service to Cabarrus County citizens, we await your reply. Charles H.
