O. Box 707
Concord, NC 28025

Dear Mr. McGinnis:

Recently I met with the me~ers of the Cabarrus County Domiciliary Home Com-
munity Advisory CommittEe to discuss their visits of rest homes, family care
homes and group homes for the developmentally disabled~ It came to my atten-
tion that the Committee is short one member with five persons having been
appointed rather than the necessary six. We request that the Commissioners
make another appointment to this committee as soon as possible. This person
shouldhave experience in the area of mental retardation to fulfill the legis-
lative requirements and should be available at least five h6urs a month to
visit the homes.

At their September meeting, the committee members eleoted Ms. Sarah Walker
as Chairperson, Mr. Bill Covington as Vice Chairperson, and Ms. Mary Bridges
as Secretary. The committee will be visiting all of the rest homes this
quarter and will begin visiting the smaller homes in January 1984. For
your information, I've enclosed a copy of the legislation detailing the
committee's responsibilities.

The Nursing Home Co~unityAdvisory Committee also has a vacancy upon the
recent death of Ms.Naomi Tillman. Ms, Tillman served on the committee
faithfully and her contributions to the committee and to local nursing
homes are already missed. Sincs Ms. Tillman had been nominated to serve
on the committee by a nursing home, the new appointee would also need to
be recommended by a local nursing home.

Please feel free to contact me about either of these committees. Our
agency will be providing increased technical assistance to them and we

cABARRus COUNTY concord harrisburg mount pleasant GASTON COUNTY belmont bessemer City cherr'/ville cramerlon
gastonla high shoals lowell mcadenville mount holly ranro slanley IREDELL COUNTY harmony mooresville s/atesville
t~outman LINCOLN COUNTY lincolnton MECKLENBURG COUNTY Charlotte cornetiua davidson huntersville matthews pineville
ROWAN COUNTY china grove cleveland granite quarp/ landis rockwell salisbury spencer STANLY couNTY albemarle
locust newlondon nonvood oakboro richlleld slanfield UNION COUNTY lndianlrag marshville monroe slallings waxhaw wingale
