(h) E~ress. Every dwelling unit shall be ~rov~ed with <br /> adequate means of egress (e~it) as required by the <br /> State Residential Building Code. <br /> <br />Section IX. Minim~ Standards for Control of Insects, Rodents, <br /> ~ Infestations. <br /> <br /> (a) Screens. In every dwelling'unit~ for p¥otection against <br /> mosquitoes, flies and other insects, every door opening <br /> directly from a dwelling unit to outdoor space shall be <br /> equipped with screens and a self-closing device. Every <br /> window or other device with openings to outdoor space, <br /> used or intended to be used for ventilation, shall like- <br /> wise be equipped with screens. If other ventilation, <br /> approved by the Housing Inspector, is used doors need <br /> not be screened. ~ <br /> <br /> (b) Rodent Control. Every basement or cellar window used <br /> or intended to be used for ventilation, and every other <br /> opening ~o a basement which might provide an entry for <br /> rodents shall be equipped with screens or such other <br /> approved device as will effectively prevent their en- <br /> trance. <br /> <br /> (c) Infestation. Every occupant of a dwelling containing <br /> a single dwelling unit shall be responsib!e~ for the <br /> extermination of any insects, rodents or other pests <br /> therein or on the premises; and every occupant of a <br /> dwelling unit in a dwelling containing more than one <br /> dwelling unit shall be responsible for such extermina- <br /> tion whenever his dwelling unit is the only one infested <br /> Whenever infestation is caused by failure of the owner <br /> to maintain a dwelling in a rodent proof or reasonably <br /> insect proof condition, extermination shall be the re- <br /> sponsibility of the owner. Whenever infestation exists <br /> in two or more of the dwelling units in any dwelling or <br /> in the shared or public parts of any dwelling containing <br /> two or more dwelling units, extermination shall be the <br /> responsibility Of the o~er. <br /> <br /> (d) Rubbish Stora=e and Disoosal. Every dwelling and every <br /> ~g-~i~ ~h~'~- gg~ied with approved containers <br /> ano covers for storage of rubbish. The owner, operator <br /> or agent in control of such dwelling or dwelling unit <br /> ~ shatl be responsible for the removal of ~ubbish. <br /> <br /> (e) Garbage Storage and pisposal. Every dwelling and every <br /> dwelling unit shall b~u.~-p-fied with an approved garbage <br /> disposal facility, which may be an approved outside gar- <br /> . base can or an adequate mechanical garbage disposal unit <br /> (mechanical sink grinder) in each dwelling unit. <br /> <br /> -9- <br /> <br /> <br />
