It gives instant alarm information to the local <br /> authorities and th~s. greatly speeds respoaae times to the alarm. <br /> <br /> It is capable of reporting eight (8} types of violations such as fire, holdup, <br /> burglarys personal safety, medical assistaoce needad~ fei]ute of environmental <br /> systems, and many others. <br /> <br /> The DART system, in its simplist form, consists of a digital transmitter located <br />at the subscriber's premises and a digital receiver located at tile County Emergency <br />Communications Center. When activated, the transmitter places a telephone call to the <br />receiver and identifies itself~ It then tells the receiver what type of alarm has <br />occurred. The receiver then gives an audible signal to the dispatdber and prints out <br />a paper copy of the alarm transmission so that he can dispatch the proper agency to <br />respond .to the emergency. Ail of this sounds like a time consuming operation but <br />actually it takes less than fifteen (15) seconds from the ioitial activation until <br />the information is printed. No precious time is wasted, and the information is totally <br />accurate. The dispatcher can instantly reference the alert to records of name, <br />address, phone numbers, relatives or authorized parsees to be notifidd, and special <br />instructions. The DART system may be used alone with wired or portable wireless <br />pushbuttons for manual activation and it call also be coonected to automatic sensors <br />or existing alarm systems. The DART system is compatlbie with all types of alarm <br />systems on the market today. <br /> <br /> Spectrum, h~e. offers a special feature of second number dialing for alarms not <br />requiring emergency help. For instance, the DART cound notify a oeighbor that the <br />temperature had risen above certain limits in a freezer while the subscriber was away <br /> <br />on vacation, or that water had flooded the basement.
