..' ,,' INTRODUCTION <br /> <br /> At the request of the Cabarrus County Commissioners, this <br /> report has been prepared to identify current and future water needs, <br /> and to investigate alternatives of water procurement which would meet <br /> those needs. A cost analysis will be provided, and a recommendation <br /> made. <br /> <br /> This report covers the entire area of Cabarrus County, and <br /> the China Grove Township of Rowan County. Figure 1 shows this area. <br /> The China Grove Township includes the towns of Landis, China Grove~ <br /> and Kannapolis, and is included in this study due to existing inter- <br /> relationships such as their close proximity, and shared water use with <br /> Cabarrus County by Kannapolis. Kannapolis is divideJ by the county <br /> line. They are also contained within the same watershed as most of <br /> Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> GENERAL DESCRIPTION <br /> CODDLE CREEK, COLDWATER CREEK, DUTCH BUFFALO cREEK WATERSHED <br /> <br /> Physical <br /> <br /> Coddle-Coldwater-Dutch Buffalo Creeks Watershed is located in <br /> <br /> the southcentral part of North Carolina. The watershed has a total <br /> area of 191,000 acres. Parts of three counties lie withiq the boundary <br /> of the watershed, Cabarrus (136,560 acres), Rowan (46,500 acres), and <br /> Iredell (7,940 acres). <br /> <br /> The watershed's stream system is composed of three independent <br /> tributaries that flow into the Rocky Rivar.
