RESOLUTION EST~kBLiSIIIMG A <br /> <br /> C~kBARRUS COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY COL~CIL <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County Board of Co~miss%oners established a Senior Citizens <br /> <br />Advisory Council on November 11, 1981. Membership on the Council shall consist <br />of nine (9) members who are to be appointed by the County Commissioners. The <br />membership of the Council shall represent the elderly, established agencies of <br />services to the aging, and the community at large, with members over 60 years of <br />age to be in the majority. Each member shall have equal rights and duties w~th <br />respect to voting privileges, eligibility to elective office, and participation <br />in the activities and deliberations of the Council. Initially, oue-third of the <br />membership shall be appointed for a one year term; one-third for a two year term; <br />and one-third'for a three year term. Subsequent appointments shall be for a <br />three year term with one-third of the members at large being appointed annually. <br />With three year terms, an individual would normally serve a maximum of two terms. <br />An individual whoso initial appointment was to fill an unexpired term shall be <br />eligible to serve the number of full-length terms other members 'are e!igibla to <br />serve unless prior to the time for reappointment that individual bas already <br />served six consecutive years. The Aging Coordinator and s[aff members cannot <br />be members of the Council nor can they serve on committees in other than advisory <br />capacities~ <br /> <br /> The elective officers of the Council shall be a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, <br /> <br />and a Secretary who shall perform the duties which usually pertain to their <br />respective offices. Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the Council <br />at a regular meeting during the month of November. Nominations will be submitted <br />by a nominating committee.
