Murphy <br />11/12/82 - Page 3 <br /> <br />Consider also the time and effort we have put in~o our improving our county <br />governments through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Payments- <br />in-Lieu of Taxes (PILT). We must work together again in 1983 to assure the <br />reaUthorization of these programs, ~s well. <br /> <br />Each county cannot do this job alone. But there is little doubt that together <br />we can achieve these goals, and much more -- to improve county government and <br />services to our citizens in each of our 3105 counties throughout the country. <br /> <br />This is why we began 35 years ago -- and this is why it is vital that we <br />continue. <br /> <br />The strength of this organization continues to be the people who are pledged <br />[o car~-y it forward. Your board came to Washington in record numbers last <br />week to take positive steps to put this organization back on sound footing. <br /> <br />And now we are looking' to each of you -- also corm~itted to carry NACo <br />fo~ard -- to provide the financial support we must have to do so. <br /> <br />It is our responsibility together to ensure thlt the association continue add <br />I am convinced~ that with your support and commitment, we will make NACo an <br />even stronger, more responsive organizatio~ for the future. <br /> <br />Enclosure: <br /> <br />cc: Board of Directors <br /> <br /> <br />
