<br /> The Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin Committee was organized
<br /> in 1981 to generate local and statewide interest in this
<br /> great natural resource. Its aims are to be alert to
<br /> attempts to change laws that would be detrimental to the
<br /> river, to have a voice in the development of the basin,
<br /> to suggest and promote programs of water conservation
<br /> and improvement of water quality, to open lines of
<br /> corm-aunication between the local governments in the
<br /> basin and to propose and support programs that will
<br /> attempt to create a greater appreciation of this impor-
<br /> tant natural resource,
<br />
