Over B,OO0 children (K-6) receiued dental health educati~ and nutrition <br /> education. <br /> <br /> · 2. One hundred thi_~ty-eight classes brushed in the classroom (most teachers <br /> allowed the brushes ~o be kept for practice at school.) <br /> <br />3. One hund-re~ eleven classes flossed in the classroom. <br /> <br /> O~e h~qdred seventy-eight ~roupg visited the dental trailer for~ field <br /> trip (used to decrease fear.) <br /> <br />5. Medicaid: De~tal Assistant contacted parents of all children found to have <br /> medicaid; explained how to use it and which dentist accept medicaid. <br /> <br />6. School Health Funds: Dental Assistant contacted ~arants of ohildren who <br /> ~alified an~ needed treatment; and explained how to use these funds; <br /> referred to private dentist. <br /> <br />7. Home Start: Screening children fo~ referrals to private dentists. <br /> <br />8. Head Start: Screening children for referrals to private dentist; education; <br /> parent education; brushing daily. <br /> <br />9. Piedmont Development Residential Center: Ten hour workshop for the staff; <br /> evaluation of -~sidents. <br /> <br />10. Ca]Darius Sheltered Workshop {handicapped aflults): Screening and letters <br /> to parents or guardians; brushing instructions. <br /> <br />11. Screening: 9,227 children screened for dental probleras (all elementary <br /> children in Ca_barius County.) <br /> <br />12. Elderly Feeding Sites (3): Cancer screening and dental ~nd denture education. <br /> <br />13. Project Heed ~Health Education): teacher training, consgJtations. <br /> <br />14. Co-ordinate fluoride swish program: 9,000 children swishing. <br /> <br />15. Day Care: Brushing, inspection, and education. <br /> <br />16. Nursing Homes: Preventive education for staffs. <br /> <br /> <br />
