The demand for <br />nutrition and dental education in Cabarrus County as well as the d~nand for <br />dental services for indigent children is very great at present. I cannot <br />perform all the duties that are needed to service the area in schools, day care <br />centers, nursing ~mes, and other institutions. I have reques%ed assistance <br />frc~ the Board of Health and they have voted to uss a portion of the lapsed <br />salary monies from the health deparhnent k~dget to procure a part-t/me assistant. <br />~nis request ~uld not require additional monies, but ~uld be taken frczn the <br />existing budget. Also, a part-time (20 hours per week) 6mployee would not be <br />eligible for fringe benefits thereby avoiding some additional expenses. <br /> <br />I take pride in the Preventive Dental Health Program in Cabarrus County and <br />~¢ant to continue to see the prcgram function properly. To maintain the level <br />of care and education needed, it will be necessary to have the assistance of a <br />part-time dea%tal assistant.
