Terms of Office. It is recommended that each person appointed
to the co~nunity advisory committee serve an initial term of
one year beginning with the date of appointment. This pro-
vision would allow a "staggered" term effect as vacancies
occur and replacements made. Any person reappointed to a
second or subsequent term in the same county should serve a
__t,~r~e year term. By law, nominations of committee members
can be solicited from administrators of the domiciliary homes
in the county. We also encourage county commissioners to _
seek nominations from their local council on aging and from
their Area Agency on Aging.

2. Committee Size. The number of persons serving on a committee
should vary according to the number of homes in the county as
well as the number of persons residing in a home. It is recom-
mended that at least three persons serve each home in the
county with 50 or less residents. For those homes with more
than 50 residents there should be a~_ftve-~e~Dber qo_qunittee to
serve that homm. In addition, no three-member committee or
sub-committee should serve more than ten (10) homes; and any
five-member com~lttee serving the larger homes should serve
no more than five (5) homes. Sub-committees should be estab-
lished in counties with more than te~ (10) homes with resident
population under fifty, and in counties with more than five
homes with a resident population of more than fifty.

3. Committee Make-up. Special care should be taken to see that
persons with the interest, the time, and the ability to learn
are selected to serve on the committee.
