Chandler, Jr./Director of Planning~ <br />RE: Section 18 - Mass Transportation Grant <br />DATE: January 7, 1980 <br /> <br />Pursuant to a request by the County commissioners and in ~'!. <br />light of the present national fuel crisis, the Cabarrus <br />County Planning Department would like to up-date and expand <br />the Mass Transportation Plan prepared by Kimeley Horn and <br />A'~so6iates in 19//. The present plan is out-dated and does <br />n-6~-show projected~trip modeling reflecting inter-zone trans- <br />fer of traffic - volume, etc., and does not adequately ex- <br />amine the postures for interfacing activities of the private <br />sector with those of the public sector. The absence of an <br />up-dated plan was sited as one of the, if not the, primary <br />~easo~hat Lh~ Senior Service gr~%nJ~cation was disa. <br />proved. <br /> <br />Therefore, the Planning Department would like to apply-fo~_ <br />a ~rant ~or ma~~rEatmon ~or the non-urbanized areas <br />r'f~h__~ayDivision of the North Carolina DeDartmen_t <br />o-~rans-- --ti- This ~ectio~ 18_xrant under the Urban <br />Mass Transit Act of 1964 is ~n~ 80-10- ~ h rant. The <br />County is able to provide its 10~matc~hin~ portion by utiliz- <br />ing in-kind services ~nd CETA~ersonnel. <br /> <br />If this gran~ is funded in FY 1980 then the County could then <br />re-apply in FY 1981 to obtain grant monies to fund the imple- <br />mentation of capital expenditures also on an 80-10-10 basis. <br /> <br /> pds <br /> <br /> <br />
