Chandler, Jr./Director of Planning <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: Additional Appropriation for Street Sign Installation <br /> DATE: March 4, 1980 <br /> <br /> Pursuant to our recent conversation as pertains to additional appropriations <br /> for street signs, I submit the following information for FY 1979-1980. <br /> The Planning DeparTment was appropriated $5,000 for street sign erection <br /> and repairs, as each sign cost approximately $50.00 per sign (materials <br /> only) - only one hundred (100) signs could be erected. <br /> <br /> Our County-wide windshield survey indicated that 377 intersections were <br /> eligible for sign installation, but had no sign erected. In addition, <br /> approximately 150 sings are slated for installation as a result of the <br /> Board of Conanissioners' decision to bear all of the cost of sign install- <br /> ation. <br /> <br /> At this time, however, we ask for an gdditional $7,00_0. .This is all one <br /> man can accomplish until June 30~ 1980 with the heavy repair schedule. <br /> <br /> Additional Information <br /> <br /> Total number of streets in the County 2060 <br /> Total number of intersections in the County 2639 <br /> As of 1 November, 1979 - Field survey indicated 377 Recorded N~w <br /> Installatipns <br /> As of 1 November, 1979 - Field survey indicated 673 Needed Repairs <br /> <br />'As a result of the subdivision process, this department has processed 118 <br />subdivision plats with 273 intersections.. <br /> <br /> jla <br /> <br /> }5 <br /> <br /> <br />
