Serving Cabarrus and Rowan Counties <br /> <br /> March 31, 1980 <br /> <br />PROGRESS REPORT AND POSITION PAPER #4 <br /> <br />On Monday March 17= 1980 Vision Cable of Metrolina began delivering <br />cable TV service to homes located in the Royal Oaks section of <br />Kannapolis. We have now connected more than 100 homes and will soon <br />be activating service at the rate of about one hundred and fifty <br />homes per week. <br /> <br />Construction is nearing completion in phase one (see map enclosure <br />#1) and is under way in the second phase. <br /> <br />Our rate of construction continues to be governed by'the rate at <br />which utility pole owners are able tp provide cleara~ces in advance <br />of our strand and cable crews. <br /> <br />Based on the current speed of "makeready" we expect to have service <br />available in the whole of phase one (1172 homes) by Monday April 14, <br />and thrdughout the second phase about forty five to sixty days later. <br /> <br />Marketing is now under way in the first phase. Each resident is be- <br />ing called on and apprised of the free installation offer as stip- <br />ulated in our franchise. <br /> <br />Our design and construction plan calls for completion of areas with- <br />in the city limits of Concord .in late summer. Upon completiou of <br />the city we will begin providing service north of Centergrove Road <br />in Kannapolis, on through Landis'and China Grove and into other parts <br />of both Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. <br /> <br />The staff of Vision Cable of Metrolina has grown over the past quar- <br />ter to 16 full time and 19 part time employees plus 3 to 5 contract- <br />ed ~onstruction crews. <br /> <br /> 52 McCACHERN BLVD. · P.O.~ BOX 208 · CONCORD, N.
