Post Office Box 707

MEMORANDUM

TO: Charles D. McGinnis/County Manager

FROM: W.S. Chandler, Jr./Director of Planning

REF: Public Hearing to change Road Name

DATE: June 2, 1980

A public hearing by the County Commissioners to change road name
Mountcrest Drive to Scaleybark Trail is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.,
June 9, 1980. The required signs have been posted and affidavits
signed by the Planning Department Staff stating that these require-
ments have been fulfilled are on file in the Planning Department.

Mountcrest Drive is in Beech Bluff Subdivision, a pre-grand-
father development It was created in exact alignment with the existing
Scaleybark Trail, which is in Poplar Trails, also a pre-grandfather
subdivision. Mountcrest is a relatively small street fronting only
five lots, and at the current time only one home has been built on
this street.

Because of the alignment of these streets, some confusion may
arise in the future in regard to emergency response for protective
services such as fire or rescue, etc. This is incompatible with
county resolution to alleviate such confusion and with State Statute
153A-240 regarding naming roads and assigning street numbers in un-
incorporated areas.

For these reasons, it is requested that the name Mountcrest
Drive be changed to Scaleybark Trail.

pcc
