July 11, 1980

PROGRESS REPORT AND POSITION PAPER

At the endof the secondquarter of 1980 Vision Cable of Metrolina is
pleased to report the following construction progress:

I .. We have completed the placement of approximately 90 miles of strand
and activated service to areas containing about ~500 residences. Construction
and activation hag been in both the City of Concord and in Cabarrus County.
The upcoming quarter should provide time for completion of the City and an
additional construction crew will resume stranding in Kannapoliq this month
(July). Our intent is to be able to provide service lo an equal nutaber of City
and County residents by the close of the next quarter.

2. Pole clearances are being maintained ['ar enough ahead of actual strand
construction to allow additional construction crews. This, in turn, allows the
turnover of completed plant on an accelerated schedule, l.n the upcoming
quarter we expect to increase our rate of construction by 50%. By year end
we anticipate the avaiIibility of service to approximately 8000 homes, or one
third of the area we will serve.

3. Additional service vehicles have been purchased and some adjustments
have been made to our staff. We are currently employing between forty and
fifty office, field, and contracted personnel.

4. Four exciting new services have been added to our b~etro Cable lineup
($9.00.per month) during the past quarter - making what is already the finest
entertainment bargain in the Carolinas even greater. Our affiliation with the
new USA Ne(work now brings Madison Square Garden Sports and Thursday Night
Major League Baseball; gavel to gavel coverage of the U. S, Itouse of
Representatives, award winning childrens programming from Calliope, and the
new Black-Entertainment Network to Vision Cabl~ of Metrolina.

A formal announcement of these services will be made this month.

5. Pole clearance engineering has now been completed for our ~ervice areas
in Rowan County, Landis and China Grove, and actual line arrangements will
commence in those areas in the upcoming quarter.
