November 6, 1980

Board of County Commissioners

TO the County Manager

Dear Sir:

The purpose of this letter is twofold: first, to formally
announce to you the publication and distribution of the North
Carolina Administrative Code/ and second, to.obtain information
from your Board regarding the location of the code 'in your county.

The 1980 Short Session of the General Assembly provided funds
and authorization for the Attorney General to produce and distribute,
in microfiche form, the State's Administrative Code. That Code is a
compilation, with index, of all State administrative rules which
affect the public. The program of distribution provides, at no cost
to county government, for the State to provide a copy of the Code and
a microfiche reading machine to each county to be "maintained for
public inspection in the county in a place determined by the County
Commissioners." We are presently ordering microfiche readers which
will be provided with the first edition of the Code in January, 1981. -

r To provide your county with this informational service, 'I must

receive a letter from your Co~issioners designating ~e piace where
the Code will be maintained in your county, whether that place be a
public library, cou~t house, or other public place. Included in the
letter must be the otreet address, mailing address, and telephone
/ number of a person there whom we may ship to and otherwise contact
rectly regarding the Code.

Once we receive this information, your county may expect to
receive your microfiche reader from the distributor, MicroVie\~ of
Charlotte,'by UPS, around the first of the new year. The microfiche
will be sent from our office by mail around January 15, 1981.
