It is written into the <br /> Department of Social Services Foster Home program. Eight of these are licensed for <br /> 1 teenager so that there will be individualized attention and one ~f ~hn homes is <br /> licensed for 2. The Board rate is $250.00 per month. This program also includes funds <br /> for extensive participation in Cecreational programs, fee. s for Y memberships and camping <br /> equipment that is available to these homes for camping trips. One school in Rowan County <br /> also has "In school suspension" program. <br /> <br /> STANLY COUNTY <br /> <br /> This year the CBA is being used to support the Uwharrie Homes, Inc. for boys 10 to 16 <br /> years of age with behavioral problems. A distinct possibility for the future is that <br /> some of these funds will be used for specialized foster care. <br /> <br /> IREDELL COUNTY <br /> <br /> This past year the CBA funds were used for the Iredell Youth Home. At the present time <br /> a Task Force is being appointed to survey needs and make recommendstions to them on the <br /> use of the money. <br /> <br /> DAVIDSON COUNTY <br /> <br /> In 1977 a Children's Task Force was organized and this group set forth priorities as to <br /> the needs of children. The first allocation of money was used for a receiving home for <br /> use of children under the Department of Social Services~ The Home opened in March 1978. <br /> A residential treatment center for children under the Department of Mental Health will <br /> receive this years allocation. It is expected to open within a few weeks During. 1979 <br /> they also expect to establish a network of specialized foster homes. This will also <br /> include a training program for the foster parents to help them in working with the foster <br /> children. <br /> <br /> LINCOLN COUNTY <br /> <br /> The programs in,tinted were: <br /> 1. Specialized Foster Care <br /> 2. Temporary Emergency Foster Care <br /> 3. A companions Program <br /> The Foster Care programs were both under the Department of Social Services and the <br /> Companions program was submitted through the Mental Health Agency. A Social Worker was <br /> employed to work with all three programs as a CBA Coordinator. The ~ounty feels that <br /> these programs are proving to be very effective and plan to study others which may be <br /> added during the coming year. <br /> <br /> <br />
