A RESOLb~i0N'REQUESTING THaT ~HE'CABA~Rus COUNTY <br /> PLANNING DEPART~ENT SECURE WRiTTEN PETITIONS TO <br /> NAME OR TO REM~NE .DUPLICATED, AND DECPTIVELY <br /> SIMILAR ROAD NAb~S IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the road names in Cabarrus County North Carolina duly <br />concerns the safety and Well being of the Citizens of Cabarrus CoUnty <br />and to exped'ite emergency traffic such as ambulance Service and for <br />fire vehicles to locate, without delay, specific roads in the County; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the'Cabarrus County Commissioners by unanimous vote on <br />September 8, 1970 decided that similac and deceptively Similar na~es <br />Would be eliminated in the County and that a ~niform system of naming <br />streets and the erection of street ma~kers be formulated and administer- <br />ed by the County Planning Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS in accordance with I53A-240 of the North Carolina General <br />Statutes it has become established policy that all duplicate or deceptive- <br />ly similar street names recorded in the office of the Cabarrus County <br />Register of Deeds or designated by a secondary road (SR) number by the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation be named or renamed in public <br />hearing after the required prior public notice is given to the concerned <br />citizenry; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COb~MISSIONERS OF <br />CABARRUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, meeting in regular session on March <br />12, 1979, that the Cabarrus County Planning Department in conjunction <br />with subdivision developers, when possible, secure signatures in petition <br />form-of individuals ownzng at least fifty-one percent (51%) of the road <br />frontage or at the discretion of the Director of Planning, the signatures <br />of the majority (at least fifty-one percent) of the owners of parcels <br />fronting on the subject road. <br /> <br /> This resolution adopted after motion, second and roll call on this <br />date. <br /> <br />Dated: <br /> <br />ATTEST: BOARD OF COUNTY CO~IISSIONERS <br />Jaymee Floyd CABARRUS CO~qTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Clerk to the Board of <br />County Commissioners <br /> <br /> BY: <br /> <br /> TROY RAY COOK, CHAIRMAN <br /> <br /> <br />
