CABARRUS COUNTY

~"~' ~'~ Concord. North Carolln~ ~25
October 2, 1979

Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager
Cabarrus County
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear Mr. MaGinnis:

The North Carolina Division on Aging haa contacted me regarding a transfer
of Senior Services ~o tbe Department of Social Sera~ces. The reason for
this suggestion was twofold in that this would be the first step in the
direction of further developing ~ Focal Point on Aging in Cabarrus County,
and aecondly~ there is a reduction in the State funding formula for Senior
Services. There can be more coordination snd stronger organization of all
services for older adults in this combination by having the Nutrition
~[ogram~, transportation, Homemaker and Volunteer Services under one Eerson~_
in the De~a~r~ot ~odial Services. Sk~h~e-'~rV--~'~r Coordinator
position is presently vacant, we can transfer Mrs. Arcber and her people
to our staff. In the reorganization of these services and with all of us
- working toward improved coordination of services for senior citizens, we
see this as a positive move for developing and expanding services to our
older people.

Since there are no additional funds involved, we respectfully request you
to recommend to the Cabarrus County Commissioners that we make this change.

Sincerely,

~(Mrs.) Franc~s B. L~on~ ~
Director

FBL:bsh
