Serving Caba~rus ano Rowan Counties <br /> <br /> Sep£ember 29, 1979 <br /> <br />PROGRESS REPORT AND POSITION PAPER #3 <br /> <br />Subsequent to the June progress report the following has <br />occurred: <br /> <br />] Vision Cable }]as purchased, remodeled and occupied a <br />permanent central office facility at 52 McCachern Blvd <br />in Concord, N.C. <br /> <br />2. Staffing has ~egun. Wiliiam Wells has moved hare from <br />Bradford, Pa. to assume'the Chief Technical positioe in the <br />system and Ms. Carol Snow, a resident of Kannapotis has <br />accepted the position of Office Manager. Another Kannapolis <br />resident, Horace Rodgers has Joined us as a Technical Trainee <br />and is currently serving in various capacities relative to <br />system construction. Many additional applications have been <br />accepted for consideration as staffing continues, concurrent <br />wit)] system development. <br /> <br />3. Gill Management Services of San Jose, California will <br />provide on-line data processing for Vision's Metro/ina <br />operation. Keyboards, displays and printDut devices will <br />arrive here during October in anticipation of system acti- <br />vation. <br /> <br />~. Jerrold Electronics Corp., a subsidiary of General Instru- <br />ment Corp. has been selected to provide system design and <br />electronics, while the cable itself will be of the fused-disc <br />type supplied by General Cable Corp.. Kennedy Cable Construc- <br />tion of Reidsville, Ga. ~ill be the prime contractor. <br />Construction. materlalJ ~re on hand and actual cable construction <br />will begin as~-sbon:as an ~dequa%e a~ount of pole line clearances <br />have been completer by'the utility companies to assure unimpeded <br />progress. <br /> <br />5- Preparation of existing utiiity poles continue to affect <br />the only delay in oor proposed schedule. Our last progress <br />report indicated a starting date of coustruc%iou of August <br />first; contigent up6n the receipt of all attachment agreements, <br />their timely exe~ution, and the commencement of actual pole <br />line rearrangements.
