¥~r~r~c t~,e Wolf Meadow School Road ~s a secondary road, <br />previously maintained by the State of North Carolina, which <br />connects u. S. Highway 29 and Roberta Mill Road in Cabarrus <br />County, Kortk Carolina, said Wolf Meadow School Road having <br />been formerly designated under the State Road secondary system <br />as State Road 1535; and <br /> <br />h~ER-EAS, said Wolf ~leadow School Road was constructed for the <br />~r~-,-y purpose of providinc access to the Wolf Meadow Ele- <br />mentary School located bet~,een U. S. 29 ~nd Roberta ~11 Road; <br /> <br />%~HE?~AS, this Board of County Co~,iss~oners, at a meeting duly <br />convened and held on ~rch 9, 1975, determined that it was in <br />~%e best interests of the county and its citizens to request <br />the ~orth Carolina Depart3r,~ent of Transportation to abandon <br />and peru~nentty close ~lf Meadow School Road and by.resolution <br />ur~anin,ously adopted et said meeting, this Board requested the <br />~<orth Carolina Depar~r~ent of Transportation to abandon and <br />pe-~r~nently close said road, such abandonment and closing to <br />have been effective upon the construction of suitable access <br />to Wolf Meadow Elementary School utilizin~ State Road 1541 <br />from Roberta ~ill Road plus an extension ~f said State Road <br />15~t; and <br /> <br />%~HEP~AS, ~nis Board of County Co~ssioners has now been <br />advised in writing by the Division Engineer for the Depart- <br />ment of Transportation of the State of North Carolina that <br />%he said Wolf 5~eadow School Road was abandoned by the Board <br />of Transportation in official session on May 11, 1979 and <br />that the Department of Transportation has constructed and com- <br />pleted a new access road in accordance with applicable state <br />specifications to provide suitable and adequate access to <br />Wolf ~eadow Elementary School along an extension of State Road <br />1541; and <br /> <br />h~EKE~3, since Wolf ~:eadow School Road has been abandoned <br />by ~he North Carolina Department of Transportation and' is no <br />longer being maintained by state funds, it would be encu~ent <br />upon Cabarrus County to allocate and provide funds for the <br />maintenance of said Wolf Meadow School Road in order to keep <br />it open to the public, which such allocation and provision of <br />fumds would be financially burdensome to Cabarrus County <br />without a good cause shown; and <br /> <br />%~E~AS, Wolf Meadow School Road is no longer necessary for the <br />use of the general public or necessary for ingress or egress by <br />any adjoining landowners who do not have some other adequate <br />means of access to their respective properties; and <br /> <br /> <br />
