_October 25, 1979 AN INTER1M REPORT ON CABLE SYSTE!~ CONSTRUCTION: The submission of pole a~%achment agreements by Concord Telephone and the Concord Board of Light and Water came much later than anticipated- We recieved them on Sept. 24 and they were immediately executed and returned. We now must wait for the actual pole line rearrangements to be accomplished in order to begin cable consnruction. As of today Concord Telephone Company has completed uheir work along some 13 miles of our system route. I expect progress estimate from Duke Power and Concord Light and ,Water this week. As soon as we are assured of adequace clearances over at least 40 [niles of pole line ],;e will begin strand and cable const- rucnion. We anticipate an initial rate ol' construction of about one mile per day. Our tower is up and all antennas have been installed, The signal processing equipment is on hand and the build- ina is under construction%. The foundation is curing for the Earth Station and our Office is completed. We have an abundance of construction ma%erial on hand and a contractor is awaiting our call. He has bee~% set back three times already &nd is now prepared to be )]ere ~ith 10 days notice. Immediately on notification by the pole owners that sufficient plant is clear we will begin construction. We have planned and exeect construction to begin and move South from the pickup and EarLh Station site in Royal Oaks into the City of Concord, but that plan could be altered by the lack of adequate cleared plant.
