Other potential users of the end product will be considered in <br />addition to Duke Power Company. The markets for any by-products such as aluminum, <br />glass~ fragments, metal scraps, etc., will also be investigated. <br /> ' In executing its charge, the task force is authorized to establish any <br /> <br /> / <br />a~visory committees as they may determine are needed, and to call upon W~COG, the <br /> / . <br />,Centralina Council of Governa~nts, and municipal and county staffs for ir~put and <br />advice as the work proceeds. Duke Power Company has pledged support of this activity <br />and assu~ed staff availability for participation as the task force may deterflL~ne. <br /> Through the task force, the consultant will accomplish at least the following <br /> activities: <br /> 1. Inventory amounts of solid waste that will be available immediately, as well <br /> as in ~he next five, ten, fifteen and ~wenty year periods. Insofar as possible, studies <br /> as may have already recently been accomplished within the two region ~rea will be used. <br /> 2. Classify solid waste, and estimate amounts that can be used as processed fuel, <br /> metal salvage, glass salvage, etc., for the next five, ten, fifteen# and twenty year <br /> periods. Insofar as possible, any studies as may have already recently b~en accomplished <br /> within the two region area will be used. <br /> <br /> 3. Explore [m~rkets for salvaged materials other than fuel supplement or energy <br /> <br /> 4. Explore alternate recovery systems to produce refuse derived fuel or an energy <br /> so~rce such as steam, estimate costs for each, and recommend most cost effective system <br /> and location of site(s). <br /> 5. Investigate ~ransportation routes and transfer stations, as necessary# for <br /> those counties and municipalities interested, and identify those that would be most <br /> <br /> cost effective to be included in initial project. <br /> 6. Meet with Duke ~ower Company officials to jointly evaluate feasibility of <br /> burning refuse derived fuel (P~)F) of a specialized character and vol~e at the Duke <br /> Power Marshall Steam Plant, and identify boilers at other Duke Power plants that coul~ <br /> <br /> <br />
