Box 707 <br />Concord, North Carolina 28025 <br /> <br />Dear Charles: <br /> <br />We have submitted a request for a solid ~aste planning grant through COG. <br />Our grant request is for funds to do borings and develop a plan for %he <br />direction in which to continue our landfilling operation. We also hope <br />khat by u~ilizing our current staff to evaluate t]ue da~a and write the <br />report that funds %~uld be available to construct a silt filter in the <br />sfream running ~hrough the landfill. This filter would also serve as <br />a monitoring skation for possible leachate from the landfill. <br /> <br />A requirement for obtaining this solid waste grant is ~]uat it will be <br />necessary for tl%e Board of Commissioners to pass a resolution indicating <br />their intent to implement ~]e plan. ~%e grant will provide up to $10,000 <br />for the study. We have until July 17 to submit this resolution. <br /> <br />I will appreciate your presenting this J~lformation to ~e Board of County <br />Conmissioners.
