We request that your <br />consideration of it be favorable. To indicate our support, the Executive Com- <br />mittee of the Board of Trustees of Histd~ic Cabarru s, Inc. has voted to contri- <br />bute $1, 800.00 as a portion of the lqcal funds required under the grant proposal. <br /> <br /> The inventory of historic places and archaelogical sites will be of <br />great benefit to our community. ]Publication of this-inventory will provide a <br />reliable reference for use by governmental planner~, historians, and others <br />interested in historical sites. It will provide the basis for nominations to the <br />National Register of Hist?'~i~ iPlaces, for other go~re~nment grants, and for tax <br />incentives to private owners. , Our area is rich in history and recognition of <br />histoYic sites will do rh~ch;td ~oster and encourage their preservation and to <br />promote pride in the ~ktue history of our community. <br /> <br /> .Your efforts to maintain physical responsibility and the tight budget <br />limitations which you have S~t ~re fully appreciated. However, this is an op- <br />portunity to return to oub community a portion of the taxes which our citizens <br />have paid ~o the State h~d,]Federal governments. Historic Cabarrus, Inc. is <br />reaching deep into its own ~6ckets for the $1, 800.00 which represents a sub- <br />stantial portion of our annual'budget.
