These funds are not fo~ <br /> ~isting identified focal po~ts on a~g. The ~tent of the ~d~g is that <br /> there should be a foc~ pO~t on agog in each of the 100 counties. The Division <br /> of AgOg has dete~ed t~t 6 of the 8 counties in our region do have existing <br /> ~entified focal points. Cabar~s and Stanly Counties do not. These counties <br /> would be eligible for these funds. Applications are due to the North Carolina <br /> D~vision o~ AgOg on Sept~be~ 15, 1978. ~y applications sub~tted after <br /> Sept~ber 15, 1978 ~11 ~ revised as second priority (funds available) basis. <br /> Under no circumstances ~11 applications be considered after ~ovember 15, 1978. <br /> The ~x~um ~ount of State funds available ~or tbs 9 month grau~ period end~g <br /> June 30, 1979 is $14,085. These funds must be ~tched on a 75/25 ratio. ~e- <br /> h~f of the local contribution (12 112~ of the total budget) must be in cash. <br /> The$18,750.other portion ~y be iu-k~d contributions. A.local focal po~ is defied as an organization reco~ized by ~he Bp~rd o~ <br /> County Co~issioners '~&~-"~kl ~e a central po~t for ~vocacy, info~tion <br /> and referral and coord~a~ion on behalf of older ~ults. The focal point ~y or <br /> ~y not provide direct se~ices. The ~ocal po~t may have a variety of names <br /> or facilities. It ~y be either public or private non-pro,it. T~ically a <br /> ~oc~ po~t on agog requires an office, a full-time profession~ director, and <br /> a secretary. There should be a Board or ~visory Co~ittee which includes older <br /> adults and agencies se~g older ~ults in the county. <br /> <br /> For purposes of an application, a local focal point on agog should fit ~thin <br /> the above description ~d there should be some assurance that the local co,unity <br /> ~11 cont~ue to support the ~ocal po~t in the future. <br /> <br /> ag~lable for those ~g-.application. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
