RESOLUTION <br />.... el~f '.~t ......... <br /> <br /> REQUESTING GOVERNOR HUNT TO SEEK THE DESIGNATION OF REGION <br /> F AS AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, theeight county ares known as Cantralina Council of Governments <br /> andes Region F meets the requirements for formation of an Economic <br /> Development District by having at least one of these counties already <br /> designated as an economic redevelopment county~ and <br /> <br /> Wq{EREAS,.the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 gives <br /> first preference to delineation of Economic Development District <br /> boundaries that conform to those of existing sub-state regions, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Governor James B. Hunt, who by law must request the Economic <br /> Development Administration to designate Region F has demonstrated his <br /> support for formation of one Economic Development District including <br /> all counties in the Region, and <br /> <br /> WHEP. EAS, the Board of Co.~ssioners of County understands <br /> that the Eoard of Delegates of the Centralina Council of Governments <br /> has stated its readiness to operate an economic development program and <br /> its willingness to provide an appropriate organizational structure for <br /> an Economic Development District, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Board desires to cooperate with other co.ties in the <br /> Region to plan and form an Economic Development Dlstrlct~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Governor James B, Hunt has indicated that he will entertain <br /> requests from Region F counties that he recommend delineation of Region <br /> F as an Economic Development District, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Comm~ssioners of <br /> County that we do hereby publicly state our support for the formation <br /> of a regionwide District and request that Governor Hunt recommend, on our <br /> behalf, that the Secretary of Commerce designate Region F as an Economic <br /> Development District, <br /> <br /> THIS THE DAY OF SEPTEMBER <br /> <br /> Chairman <br /> <br /> Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
